Seeing the Forest AND the Trees
A Tree Fund project and partnership between the Foundation of the State Arboretum and Clarke County Public Schools. In addition, the H. O. Peet Foundation and
What is it? A year-round project focused on developing tree biology and ecology curriculum that integrates English, Mathematics, and Science.
- Who? Third grade students and teachers of rural Clarke County Public Schools (CCPS) in Virginia, State Arboretum of Virginia & Blandy Experimental Farm Education and Arboretum staff.
- What did we do? Explored forest ecology at the State Arboretum of Virginia, schoolyards, and the classrooms throughout the school year. Created engaging, interdisciplinary activities, developed lasting relationships as we planted native trees as part of a forest restoration project in our Community Forest grove.
