Our watershed education project, funded by NOAA’s Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) program, is nationally highlighted in recognition of National Environmental Education Week! This project was selected to represent the Chesapeake Bay region (which includes NY, PA, DE, MD, WV, VA, & D.C.) one of 5 watershed regions in the United States with a B-WET program.
The education team at Blandy Experimental Farm has developed a strong partnership with Clarke County Public Schools to jointly create locally centered, environmental literacy curricula extending through elementary, middle, and high school grades.
This year was especially challenging without Blandy-based outdoor field investigations, but as K-12 education director Candace Lutzow-Felling said, “If students can’t go on field investigations, bring field investigations to the students!”
