Garden Fair - Mother's Day Weekend

Plants on sale at annual garden fair.Our annual flagship fundraising event, Garden Fair is a one-stop shopping experience for today’s gardener. Explore an expansive variety of plants nurtured with care, from the traditional to new selections you’ve wanted to try. Dozens of established plant and garden-related vendors from around the region bring their inventory directly to you – all in one place! You’ll find an unmatched selection of perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, small trees, shrubs, berry bushes, native plants, home and garden products, and more. As you shop, enjoy fare from food vendors, live music, arboretum tours, and plant experts eager to share their gardening wisdom. This popular event attracts thousands of nature lovers each year.

Kids need nature and nature needs kids! Explore the natural world through observation, experimentation, and hands-on activities. Campers will work in small groups with leaders, naturalists, and Blandy’s scientists.

The Foundation of the State Arboretum celebrates the Ginkgo Gold with special visitor services. Several snack and coffee trucks, a few Ginkgo Art and Jewelry vendors and extra bathrooms will welcome visitors near the parking entrance before you begin your 10-minute walk to the Grove. We will also host a ginkgo and State Arboretum of Virginia souvenir stand and a Sponsor A Ginkgo Tree booth across from the Gingko Grove. Ginkgo Gold Weekends for 2026 are currently scheduled for October 31st - November 1st, and November 7th - November 8th.

A holiday tradition, FOSA offers wreath-making workshops the first weekend in December, every year! Create your own unique holiday wreath using fresh greenery, pine cones, seed pods and other natural adornments. Our instructors will help guide you through the steps. 2026 Holiday Wreath Workshops will take place December 5th - 8th. Ticket sales for FOSA Members will open in early November and general public registration will open mid-November.
