Clarke County students are making a difference in our watershed! Local channel WVDM covered the story here.

Native brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) juveniles were released into Spout Run, a stream cold, oxygen-rich, and pebbly enough to allow these trout to survive. These trout were raised from eggs by Clarke County high school students. 

As part of a year-long watershed education project, the trout release is one of many action projects that CCPS students are undertaking as part of our Clarke to Bay grant! Blandy's education team worked alongside various Clarke county teachers to create meaningful, experiential learning experiences breaking out of the classroom walls and connecting to their local environment. Community action projects are self-directed project-based service-learning experiences. In summary, students choose a local or global issue of interest and/or personal relevance, design an action plan, and take action.
