Annual Awards Spotlight This Year’s Shining Examples

In early November, Blandy and FOSA staff gathered with our many volunteers to show our gratitude for the many hours of service and selflessness these individuals have devoted to Blandy throughout the year. FOSA Board member and chair of the Volunteerism Committee Mary Olien emceed the dinner event. She highlighted the many volunteer opportunities filled during 2023 and promoted next year’s slate of events and projects.

Olien also introduced this year’s volunteer award winners, selected by the Volunteerism Committee and Blandy staff who work regularly with volunteers, from gardens to trails to special events.

Here are the fabulous 2023 honorees, our second year of delivering these awards, aptly named for some of the all-time great Blandy and FOSA volunteers:

-The Bill and Millie Koehler “Always Say Yes” Award – Celie Harris

-The Sam Adams “Boots on the Ground” Award – Sara Dydak & Sue Teal

-The Wyatt and Clark “Get It Done” Award – Martha Keeley

-The Gung-Ho for Ginkgoes Award – Karl Dydak

-The Donna Downing “Make it Happen” Award – Bill Powers

-Rookie of the Year – Kathy Drummond

-The Syliva Wilson Trailblazer Award – Barbara Baker.
