Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are our most valuable resource at the State Arboretum. We are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers for our weekly garden crews, as well as for a number of events that occur periodically throughout the year. Note that all volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Take a look at our exciting and rewarding volunteer opportunities below!

Weekly Garden Crews

Weekly garden crews are our primary volunteer opportunities for those interested in helping with gardening, grounds, and woody plant maintenance. These groups meet once a week during their respective days throughout the growing season. Each shift runs from 9AM - 12PM, weather dependent. Click the pictures below to learn more and sign up.

Seasonal/Event-Based Opportunities

In addition to our weekly crews, there are periodic volunteer events throughout the year. These vary by season and tend to happen on weekends. Typical opportunities involve helping to set up and run our annual events, serving as docents and guides during particularly busy weekends, and more. Click the picture below to learn more and sign up.
